It was Spider Woman who preserved the Dine (Navajo) people from the evils that surrounded them when they emerged into the Third-World. For this reason she became one of their most cherished Gods. It was also Spider Women who taught the Dine to weave. Spider Women told the Dine ancestors of the first weaving loom constructed by her husband. He made the cross poles of sky and earth cords; the warp sticks of sun rays, lengthwise to cross the woof; the healds of rock crystal and sheet lightning, to maintain the condition of the fibers. For the batten he choose a sun halo to seal the joints, and a comb of white shell to clean the strands.

This is a fantastic weaving by MARY BEGAY. It is a EYEDAZZLER weaving measuring 43X24 inches. My family purchased this rug in the 1970s and it is in great condition. Take a look at the pictures and this rug will sell itself. Mary added a nice touch to this rug by weaving 4 feathers into the sides of the rug. Feathers are rarely seen in Eyedazzler weavings. The natural earth tones Mary created using vegetal dyes, in this weaving are nothing less than beautiful! This weaving was made using natural HAND SPUN WOOL from Marys families herd of sheep. She has used a great combination of natural colors in this weaving that make it very pleasing to the eye.
