DEE HOMER
$99.00
This is a very nice carving by DEE HOMER. Dee comes from the TONALEA area of the Navajo Nation and is known as a very fine Kachina Doll artist among his people. Dee calls this piece SIO HEMIS. This Kachina stands 11 inches from the base to the top of the tableta. As always Dee has paid very close attention to detail when making this piece. Sio Hemis is carrying a rattle in his right hand and a sprig of Douglas Fir in his left. Surmounted by an elaborate tableta painted with phallic and cloud symbols. He is wearing a Kilt. sash, womans belt and red moccasins. His body is painted with brown corn smut and light colored half moons. This piece has been signed by the artist on the bottom of the base.

The Niman Kachina Dance is an annual ceremony in July at most of the Hopi Pueblos. It is the last Kachina Dance of the year. It is said that any Kachina may be selected as Niman Kachina, but the Hemis Kachina is usually selected and its name is synonymous with Niman Kachina. If you would like to see more photos of this piece, contact me and I will email them to your address.

This Kachina is 100% authentic 100% handmade by a Native American person. This item was made in the USA. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee. If you have any questions about this item email me at FEBANKS@4cornersindianart.com
