It was also Spider Women who taught the Dine to weave. Spider Women told the Dine ancestors of the first weaving loom constructed by her husband. He made the cross poles of sky and earth cords; the warp sticks of sun rays, lengthwise to cross the woof; the healds of rock crystal and sheet lightning, to maintain the condition of the fibers. For the batten he choose a sun halo to seal the joints, and a comb of white shell to clean the strands.

This beautiful large rug was woven by Lily Nez Tsosie. Lily is a life-long weaver from the Bitter Springs area of the Navajo Nation. This rug measures 40x31 inches. She used her personal storm Pattern for this weaving. Lily has wove 6 natural colors into this rug. Lillie used natural spun wool and aniline dyes for this weaving. We have bought weavings from Lilly and her 2 sisters for years, I have noticed they usually include a few feathers in their weavings and this rug is no exception.
